Dregs One – California & Me & You
I made this song while dealing with all the bullshit California courts have put me through. The financial crisis this state is in has public services in bad shape and they’re taking it out on the people. Behind the fun, glamorous image people have of Cali there’s a lot of grimey shit going down and some of it goes as far back as the gold rush. Real talk.

This is a track I wrote when I was thinking about what goes through my head when I approach a chick I’m hella attracted to and how shit can just crack off based on a quick moment in time. And also how sometimes relationships can be very meaningful even if they’re temporary. My folks Okeefe & Telli Prego made the beat and it knocks. Download these songs at dregs1.bandcamp.com and as always I’d like to hear what y’all think so holla at me. Peace. – Dregs One – Gas Mask Colony
Dregs One – Back To The Baysicks mixtape free download
n an age of hip-hop where commercialization, shallow lyrics, and transparent beats are all too common, few can remember the times when thought-provoking MCs dominated the mic and innovative producers experimented with sounds. Dregs One taps into that old school vibe with his new mixtape, Back To The Baysicks.
Putting a twist on the average mixtape, the beats on Back To The Baysicks are loops of the samples used by pioneering Bay Area artists like Too $hort, Rappin’ 4-Tay, Spice 1, and more.
With the independent spirit pumping through his veins, Dregs One lays down clever raps and upholds his roots in San Francisco & the entire Bay Area. Dregs creates new versions of classic Bay songs and adds his own personal flavor to them. He touches on subjects ranging from the current state of hip-hop to inner-city reality; while also including good ol’ fashioned lyrical exercises and party jams.
Paying homage to the pioneering artists of independent hip-hop, Dregs One puts the ‘do-it-yourself’ method in full effect. Back To The Baysicks was produced, recorded, designed and arranged by Dregs after a computer crash left him with only a digital beat program and a rhyme book. This mixtape is a testament to using the love of music to get through tough times.
Despite the heavy oversaturation of an industry that prefers image over talent and ignorance over substance, there are still some young artists who are in it out of genuine love for music. This MC is one of them.
Anyone who is nostalgic for rap music’s golden age and has been looking for a modern revival of the values of hip-hop culture can find it in this mixtape. – Dregs One – Gas Mask Colony. click here to download Dregs One – Back to the Baysicks mixtape

Dregs One

Man! I’ve been cattin off and haven’t thrown anything up on the blog in a minute. April was a hectic month, your boy had a lot going on. For one, GMC was supposed to do a show in San Diego with Bored Stiff but the venue turned out to be faulty so it was cancelled (you’ll be hearing more about this later). Also, young Dregs hit the 23rd b-day mark (shout out to all the Tauruses out there). Not to mention just the usual hecticness of life! So with all I got going on I figured I’d just throw some new music out there. Check this:

High Yella free mixtape download

“I’m proud to present this free mixtape by The High Yella Club, which is myself and BIG Shawn. Let me break down the history of the HYC. In 2007, myself and Telli Prego started work with Mint Rock and BIG Shawn to do a mini Bored Stiff/GMC collabo album called ‘Wolves @cha,’ with production by myself, BI, Mr. 24, and DJ Chill Will. We knocked out an entire album so quick that me and BI decided to work on our own project too. Maybe one day Wolves @cha will come out one day, we’ll see…
Anyway, me and BIG finished two full-length albums, one produced entirely by me the other by him. This latest mixtape consists of tracks that were cut from the album for one reason or another. So, while I won’t go ahead and say this is the dopest mixtape of all time, it’s a good intro to the music made by me and BIG Shawn and it’s a cool 11 tracks for the hip-hop heads out there to bump. So go ahead and download the whole thing for free at dregs1.bandcamp.com and let me know how you like it. PEACE!!”
